Consuming Fire

Hebrews 12:28-29 Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; for our God is a consuming fire.

Are you on fire for God or are a spiritual flicker with your faith?

Seed on Rocky Soil

[Luk 8:13 NIV] 13 and it says this: Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away.

Now this term fall away is not a good one, in Strong’s concordance the definition ranges from either meaning to make oneself distance from something or in a christian sense to be faithless … none of the definitions are good, but I think we can all remember someone that has fallen away from the faith.

Carry Your Cross

Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.  

Jesus tell us to carry our cross, but we know that He carried our burdens to the cross. Listen to how we should willingly judge and condemn our sinful nature as followers of Jesus.

11th Hour Worker

Jesus tells his followers a parable about workers who work in the heat of the day and also workers who only work an hour of the day. We think the harder and longer we work, the more we get paid by God, but Jesus tells us that it is not about working harder or shorter, but it is about His mercy.

Seed along the Path

[Luk 8:12 NIV] 12 Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved.

This is a very popular parable from Jesus and he is explaining how a seed if planted in bad soil will not grow to maturity. This whole idea of growing into christian maturity is repeated in many places in the New testament, so we should take note of this message.

It seems these days people are searching everywhere to find the answers except where all the answers come from which is through Jesus and his word. Some people seek out answers from fortune tellers, gurus oh and of course facebook.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword

The Word of God is the secret weapon against the enemy. There is power in the scriptures. One example was when Jesus was in the desert 40 days and Satan tried to tempt him. Jesus would fight back with scripture, and it silenced the enemy.

Forgiven

Matthew 6:14 For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 

One of the most important willful acts by a believers is to forgive, the fact is .. one of the most consistent message in all of Jesus’s teachings entail forgiveness, forgiveness for the wrong we do and giving forgiveness for those who wrong us.

A Good Guy and a Fence (2 Min)

Matthew 6:14 For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

The Bible even says we shouldn’t go to the church altar if someone has something against you. God wants us to humble ourselves and seek out forgiveness.

Seat with Satan (2 min)

James 2:19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that--and shudder.

Many folks think that if they just believe there is a god then they will be fine. Many even believe Jesus is the son of God, but that just isn’t enough. The demons of course know there is God and Jesus is His son...why then are they damned to hell?

Light a Lamp (2 min)

[Mat 5:15) 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 

The whole purpose for that light is not to say … “look at me, I am a Christian”, but rather to reveal through our intentional, genuine, care for others that God exist.

Do Not Stumble

[Mat 11:6 NIV] 6 Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.

The bible tells us that we should live as Jesus lived so that we may limit the amount of our stumbling and errors. The good thing is that if we do stumble, we know someone who can help us stand.

Acceptable Religion (2 min)

Jas_1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
